Growing the Next Generation of ARCTIC Skiers

The Iqaluit Ski Team brings together young athletes to train, progress, and discover their potential on snow. With year-round coaching and mentorship, they build strength, resilience, and a deep connection to the land.

From local races to events across Canada and the Arctic, these young skiers embody the determination of the North.

With just four determined young skiers, the team travelled to Alaska to represent the territory on snow unlike anything they had experienced at home.

“We have four young kids that are just determined and we have some really great hope for the future of skiing in Nunavut,” said coach Benoit Havard.

In 2024, their efforts led to a historic milestone: the creation of Nunavut’s first-ever cross-country skiing team to compete at the Arctic Winter Games.

Meet the Athletes & COACHES

Our team is made up of determined, curious, and hardworking young skiers. Each athlete brings their own story, strengths, and goals. Whether preparing for their first local race or aiming for the Arctic Winter Games, they train together, support each other, and represent the spirit of northern youth.

OUR LOCATION

OUR LOCATION

The SkiCan is a cozy, wood-heated chalet that serves as the heart of our club — a welcoming place to gather, warm up, and share stories after a ski. It also houses our small workshop for gear maintenance and repairs.
